A Hampden man was arrested Tuesday afternoon for allegedly assaulting an Old Town woman and then preventing her from calling police.

Old Town police received two 911 calls from the same woman, but the calls were cut short each time. Sgt. Mike Hashey went to the Main Street residence where the calls were made and found the woman and Gary Ouellette, 49, inside.

Ouellette was taken to Penobscot County Jail. He was charged with assault, obstructing the report of a crime and violating bail conditions for consuming alcohol.
