TOPSHAM – Senior righthander Eric Anderson tossed a five-hitter, striking out eight and walking two, and Brian Hackett drove in three runs with a pair of doubles Thursday as sixth seed Bangor upset No. 3 Mount Ararat in an Eastern Maine Class A baseball quarterfinal.

TOPSHAM – Senior righthander Eric Anderson tossed a five-hitter, striking out eight and walking two, and Brian Hackett drove in three runs with a pair of doubles Thursday as sixth seed Bangor upset No. 3 Mount Ararat in an Eastern Maine Class A baseball quarterfinal.

Back-to-back doubles by Jason Eremita and Hackett and Gordie Webb’s RBI single staked Bangor to a 2-0 lead in the third and Hackett doubled home two more runs in the three-run fourth inning with Anderson contributing an RBI double.

Bucksport 7, Presque Isle 6

At Presque Isle, Joe Robicheau scored the winning run on a passed ball in the top of the seventh inning as No. 8 Bucksport upset top-ranked Presque Isle.

Joey Carmichael doubled twice to drive in two runs for the Golden Bucks. Pat Dedman singled three times and Robbie Pushard singled twice.

Logan York had three singles for the Wildcats and Derrek Belanger had a double.

At Rockland, Wade Oliver, who walked to lead off the bottom of the eighth, scored from third on a passed ball to send the Tigers to the semifinal round.

Oliver added a pair of singles earlier in the game for third-ranked Rockland, and pitched a complete-game three-hitter.

Matt Homich knocked a solo homer for the No. 11 Eagles.

At Dexter, Eric Day hit a grand slam to spark an eight-run fourth inning that broke open a 6-6 game for the No. 2 Tigers.

Ryan Marden had two singles, a double and drove in three runs while Brandon Woodman singled, doubled and knocked in three for Dexter.

Aaron Ellis hit a grand slam of his own for the No. 10 Dragons.

At Searsport, Mike Adams knocked a two-run single to lead the No. 3 Vikings to the win.

Bryan Berry notched an RBI single for the No. 6 Lynx of Lincoln.

Charlie Boulrisse singled and doubled to drive in two runs for Lee Academy. Blaine Clark added two singles.

Zack Austin had an RBI double for the Warriors.

At Deer Isle, Nick Ciomei hit a solo home run and an RBI single to lead the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners past the Beavers in the quarterfinals.

Thomas Robbins added two singles for the Mariners. Josh Eaton pitched a four-hitter while notching four strikeouts and walking two batters. He also hit one batter. The Ciomeis led a seven-run uprising in the fifth as Nick singled, Bryan Ciomei had a two-run double, and Collin Ciomei had an RBI single.

Jason Thompson hit two singles and Isaac Carney hit an RBI single for the Beavers.

Cam Cunningham and Willett combined to strike out five and walk none, as they allowed only two hits. James Zabierek brought in two runs with a double and Owen McCarthy had an RBI single for the Cougars.

Andy Martin and Alex Martin each singled for the Crusaders.

At Brewer, Monica White fired a masterful three-hitter, striking out 14 and not walking anybody to pace the visiting Rams.

Cony scored an unearned run in the first inning as the eighth-seeded Rams from Augusta upset No. 1 Brewer.

Jordan McLain was superb in defeat, tossing a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks.

Megan Stiman scored the game’s only run when she reached on a one-out error, was sacrificed to second by Amanda Mason, moved to third on White’s single and scored on a throwing error during a rundown between third and home off a double steal attempt.

Brewer had its best chance in the fifth when Sarah Risser tripled with one out and Kate Hanlon reached on a safety-squeeze that became a single when no throw was made. Hanlon then stole second.

But White struck out the next two hitters.

McLain singled and reached second on a passed ball with no outs in the first but a popup and two strikeouts stymied the threat.

Cony’s Allison Cheever had a single.

At Mount Desert, Stephanie Shuster singled twice and scored two runs as fourth ranked MDI took a win from the fifth-ranked Wildcats.

Sarah Ingalls added a triple and two more runs scored for the Trojans.

Katie Delong singled twice and scored two runs for the Wildcats. Katie Moody had one single and one run scored.

Brittany Oxley doubled, moved to third on a fielder’s choice and then scored the winning run on an error for Erskine. Oxley also had a single.

Stephanie Whittier of Belfast struck out five, walked one and allowed only two hits.

Patty Lymburner doubled and singled for GSA.

Shannon Pietras, Heather Gulesian, Mallory Gates and Bree Hanscom singled for Mattanawcook and Jordan McCafferty and Danielle Nicastro combined on a six-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks.

Megan Keegan scattered just one earned run on two hits in the loss for the No. 6 Eagles. Katie Thompson and Emma Boutiler had a single apiece.

At Fort Fairfield, Brittany Strout spun a one-hitter, fanning 14 and walking only three as the second-ranked Tigers advanced to play Lee on Saturday.

Strout also tripled, singled and drove in four runs to help her own cause for Fort Fairfield. Shannon Towle had two singles and four RBIs while sister Kelsey had two singles and an RBI. Marayl Harris added four singles.

Christina Pelletier singled and scored on an error for the No. 7 Patriots.

Amber Palmer singled twice to bring in one run for the Beavers. Erica McDugal also singled twice.

Hannah Breton hit a solo home run and an RBI single for the Greenville. Beth Bartley had a three RBI triple and a single.
