Emmy Award-winning broadcaster Chris Myers is returning to Fox Sports Net to host Chris Myers Interview, the network’s newest program.
The weekly, half-hour interview show debuts Sunday at 4 p.m. on Fox Sports Net New England and features an interview with former Major League Baseball slugger Jose Canseco, whose book “Juiced” details steroid use in the major leagues.
The three-episode show pilot format follows with Charles Barkley on June 19 and NBA coach Phil Jackson June 26.
This show attempts to differentiate itself from other traditional interview-style formats by airing each interview in its “raw form” with little editing.
Myers has been the studio host of Fox’s NASCAR live, pre-race program with champion crew chief Jeff Hammond. He also serves as the host of Fox Sports Radio’s “The Drive” afternoon program with former NFL linebacker Bryan Cox. He also is a regular contributor to Fox NFL and Major League Baseball coverage as a play-by-play announcer and reporter.
He has been with Fox since 1998. Before that, he was an anchor and reporter for ESPN on shows such as SportsCenter, Baseball Tonight and Up Close. He received an Emmy in 1990 as an anchor/reporter in the sports features category.
NESN gets five Tellys
New England Sports Network received two silvers and three bronzes at the 26th annual Telly Awards.
The Telly Awards annually showcase the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable networks, and corporate video departments in the world. The international competition receives over 10,000 entries per year from all 50 states and many foreign countries.
NESN received the highest award – a Silver Telly – for two productions: the 2005 Boston “Red Sox game open” and the 2005 Partypoker.net Boston vs. New York Poker Challenge animation package. Three Bronze Tellys were won for the 2005 Red Sox image spot titled “History Happens Here”, the 2004 Charlie Moore Outdoors open, and the 2004 Red Sox image spot titled “Red Sox Nation Pledge.”
A Silver Telly is generally awarded to entries receiving a score of 9.0 or higher out of a possible 10.0. Bronzes are given for entries having an average score between 7.0 and 8.9. Entries do not compete against each other, but are individually judged against a high standard of excellence. Historically, Silvers comprise only 7-10 percent of all entrants.
