WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe announced Friday that she is a co-sponsor of the Federal Aviation Safety Security Act.
The Federal Aviation Administration announced Feb. 1 that operations conducted by flight service stations around the country would be performed by a private contractor.
The use of the contractor will eliminate 38 of the 58 stations nationally, which includes the station that serves Bangor International Airport.
The bill would prevent the closing of the flight service stations. The bill was introduced by U.S. Sens. John Thune, R-South Dakota, and Tim Johnson, D-South Dakota.
