HOULTON – Investigators still were working Monday to nab whoever is behind two break-ins at the Daigle Oil Co. fuel station and carwash on Bangor Street.
“The investigation is still surging ahead,” Houlton police Lt. Daniel Pelletier said, “but there have been no arrests yet.”
Officer Mark Ganzel is investigating both incidents. The first burglary occurred between 9 p.m. May 31 and 6 a.m. June 1.
The second burglary occurred early on June 2.
In each instance, the perpetrator forced entry through a door in back of the building. During the first break-in, a total of $489 in cash was taken, and $200 in damage was done to the door.
The second incident was more serious, with the perpetrator making off with approximately $1,440 in cash and $564 in carwash tokens.
Two other doors and a locked box inside the facility also were damaged.
Evidence was found at the scene, and police have leads in the case.
Police are speculating that the same person or group of people is responsible for the crimes. If captured, those responsible face felony charges of theft, burglary and criminal mischief.
Anyone with information on the crimes is asked to call the Houlton Police Department at 532-2287.
