WESTBROOK – The Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger hosted a June 7 event called “Sharing The Bread” to celebrate National Hunger Awareness Day.
Maine credit unions contributed nearly $10,000 to 17 food pantries throughout the state.
Contributions were made to one pantry from each Maine county, as well as to the Good Shepherd Food Bank, Maine’s largest food pantry.
The food banks receiving donations were:
Androscoggin County: Good Shepherd Food Pantry, Lewiston.
Aroostook County: United Baptist Food Pantry, Caribou.
Cumberland County: St. Joseph’s Pantry, Bridgeton.
Franklin County: United Methodist Church-Wilton Area Food Pantry, Wilton.
Hancock County: Bar Harbor Food Pantry, Bar Harbor.
Kennebec County: Augusta Food Bank, Augusta.
Knox County: Camden Area Christian Food Pantry, Camden.
Lincoln County: Bible Baptist Church, Wiscasset.
Oxford County: Brownfield Food Pantry, Brownfield.
Penobscot Count: I Care Ministries, Millinocket.
Piscataquis County: Living World Community Food Cupboard, Dover-Foxcroft.
Sagadahoc County: Bath Area Food Bank-Pantry, Bath.
Somerset County: Fairfield Interfaith Food Pantry, Oakland.
Waldo County: Volunteer Regional Food Pantry, Unity.
Washington County: Maine Seacoast Mission Food Pantry, Cherryfield.
York County: Saco Food Pantry, Saco.
