Fort Kent Community High School

FORT KENT – Fort Kent Community High School has announced its honor parts for the Class of 2005. Graduation exercises were held Friday, June 10, at the school’s gymnasium.

Iris Guimond, daughter of Paul and Joanne Guimond of Fort Kent, was named valedictorian for the Class of 2005. She will attend St. Joseph’s College in Standish to study elementary education.

She participated in Students Against Drunk Driving, National Honor Society, key club and the peer awareness committee. Guimond served as president for Students Against Drunk Driving and the peer awareness committee her junior and senior years. She was involved with the Special Olympics, youth ministry and the Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp. She participated in soccer, softball and intramural volleyball her four years in high school.

Minal M. Caron, son of Michael and Jacqueline Caron of Fort Kent, was named salutatorian for the Class of 2005. He will attend Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., to study economics.

He participated in key club, National Honor Society, varsity club and pep band. He was selected to the All-Aroostook Band all four years, the Economic Quiz Bowl and participates in the University of Maine at Presque Isle Community Band. Caron volunteers at the Maine Winter Sports Center and is a peer tutor. He participated in tennis and Nordic skiing his four years at high school.

Burke D. Perreault, son of Dean and Wendy Perreault of St. Francis, was named honor essayist for the Class of 2005. He will attend the University of Maine at Fort Kent to study environmental studies.

He participated in the National Honor Society, the peer awareness committee and travel club, math club, yearbook club and the economic quiz bowl. Perreault also participated in basketball during his high school years. He volunteers at the St. Francis Historical Society.
