Big School (Classes A-B)

JOEY MICHALAKES

A junior on the Camden Hills of Rockport tennis team, the top-seeded Michalakes defeated 2005 state singles finalist Garret Currier of Cape Elizabeth to lead the Windjammers to a 4-1 victory over the Capers in the Class B state team championships.

Small School (Classes C-D)

MATT NICKERSON

A pitcher-infielder on the Searsport baseball team, Nickerson led the Vikings to their second straight trip to the Eastern C final. In a quarterfinal win over Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln, he hit a double and a single with two RBIs. In a 2-1 semifinal win at Dexter, Nickerson pitched a seven-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks, and walked with the bases loaded to force home the winning run.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

TERREN HALL

Hall, a sophomore pitcher for Bucksport, didn’t give up a walk in first two Eastern Maine Class B playoff games for the No. 1 Golden Bucks. She fired a one-hitter in a 4-2 win over No. 4 MDI in the semifinals and scattered four hits with nine strikeouts in a five-inning 12-0 shutout win over No. 8 John Bapst in the quarterfinals.

Small School (Classes C-D)

CHRISTY MOON

The George Stevens junior catcher drove in all three of the No. 6 Eagles’ runs in a 3-2 Eastern Maine Class C quarterfinal win over No. 3 Mattanawcook. Moon hit a two-run home run and an RBI single in the win.
