Arrested earlier for operating under the influence of intoxicants, a Bangor man didn’t believe that he was as intoxicated as the police test indicated early Thursday morning so he took a cab to St. Joseph Hospital for a blood test.

Once there, Aaron Civiello, 23, became belligerent with the nursing staff and the police were called to have him removed, according to the police report. It was about 2:40 a.m. and Civiello was told to quiet down and leave the property and was given warnings for disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.

Bangor police Detective Brent Beaulieu, who gave the man the warnings, said Civiello left but stayed close, standing across the street.

Beaulieu left but returned about eight minutes later, called back to the hospital after a small group of women standing outside reported that Civiello had threatened to stab them. Apparently, Civiello became aggravated when one of them had laughed. Beaulieu arrested Civiello and charged him with criminal threatening and disorderly conduct.

A Bangor police officer investigating an early Thursday morning report of a car hitting a utility pole on Center Street found the driver on foot.

The man claimed to have been walking in the area of Cumberland Street near Center Street for about 10 minutes although Bangor police Officer Shawn Green noted that he was completely dry even after it had rained heavily minutes earlier. Confronted about this discrepancy, Matthew Boulier, 26, of Brewer told the officer that he had driven to a nearby restaurant that was closed and had hit the utility pole after he turned around to head back.

Boulier was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants and with failure to report a property damage accident by the quickest means possible.
