ROCKLAND – Police interrupted a burglary in progress Thursday at an apartment on the corner of Gay and North Main streets, but they did not catch the culprit.

A neighbor reported the crime at 9:48 a.m. When police arrived, the person fled. Police did not apprehend a suspect, Deputy Police Chief Wallace Tower said.

The case remains under investigation.
