A Dexter man was issued multiple summonses Friday after admitting that he was drinking when he rolled his 1997 GMC Sierra pickup on Route 43 in Corinth.
George Teriault, 29, was traveling west at about 70 mph when he rounded a corner, lost control of the truck and ended up in a ditch, Maine State Police Trooper Michael Johnston said late Friday. The speed limit for that section of Route 43 is 35 mph.
Teriault was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor shortly after 6 p.m. and treated for minor injuries, the trooper said. The man was wearing a seat belt.
Johnston said witnesses at the scene advised him that Teriault might have been drinking. When the trooper searched the vehicle, he found a half-full bottle of Jack Daniel’s whiskey in the passenger’s seat.
At the hospital, Teriault admitted to drinking while driving and also told Johnston that he had several beers beforehand.
Teriault was charged with operating while under the influence, driving to endanger and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

A Veazie motorist wanted on a warrant caught the attention of a Bangor police detective Thursday when he cut off the detective in traffic and made a rude hand gesture.
Daniel Snowdeal, 40, of Veazie sped up on Hogan Road as he approached the southbound on-ramp of Interstate 95 and he failed to yield for a car that was turning left onto the ramp, according to the police report. That car was an unmarked police cruiser driven by Detective Tim Cotton, who beeped his horn only to get the hand gesture from Snowdeal in response.
Cotton reported that he stopped the van Snowdeal was driving to let the driver know of the traffic violation. Snowdeal told the detective that he hadn’t seen the yield sign and had he known the other driver was a police officer he wouldn’t have made the gesture.
There was a warrant for Snowdeal’s arrest and when Cotton informed him of this, the Veazie man told Cotton that he certainly wouldn’t have given the gesture to a police officer had he known he was wanted on a warrant. He was taken into custody.
