Three Camden residents are to be ordained deacons at a choral Eucharist at St. Thomas Episcopal Church this weekend.
The Episcopal bishop of Maine, the Right Rev. Chilton Knudsen, is to be the celebrant. The three to be ordained are Rosalee Glass, Robert Laite Jr. and John Lewis. For Episcopalians, deacons are one of three ordained ministries, along with those of bishops and priests. The Camden service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, which comprises all of Maine, announced its first round of priest reassignments this week. Most of the changes take effect June 30:
The Rev. Richard Senghas will retire from St. Rose in Jay.
The Rev. Roger Chabot will become administrator of St. Rose Parish in Jay in addition to his duties at St. Joseph in Farmington.
The Rev. Costanzo Piselli, pastor of St. Francis in Belfast, will be parochial vicar of Holy Spirit Parish in Waterville, St. John Parish in Winslow and Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Fairfield.
The Rev. Joseph Koury, pastor of Our Lady of Wisdom Parish and St. Mary Parish in Orono, will be administrator of St. Francis Parish in Belfast.
The Rev. Wilfred Labbe, pastor of St. Mary Parish in Eagle Lake and St. Joseph Parish in Wallagrass, is assigned as administrator of St. Mary and Our Lady of Wisdom parishes in Orono and Holy Family Parish in Old Town.
The Rev. Claude Gendreau will be temporary administrator of St. Mary in Eagle Lake and St. Joseph in Wallagrass in addition to his duties at St. Louis in Fort Kent and St. Charles in St. Francis.
The Rev. Normand Richard, pastor of Holy Family, Old Town, will be on sabbatical.
The Rev. Joseph Arps, chaplain at Eastern Maine Medical Center and Acadia Hospital, both in Bangor, will retire.
The Rev. John Austin, chaplain at Bangor Mental Health Institute and Eastern Maine Medical Center, will retire.
The Rev. Apolinary Kavishe, parochial vicar in Waterville and Winslow, will serve as chaplain at Acadia Hospital, Bangor Mental Health Institute and Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
The Rev. Paul LaBree, parochial vicar at Holy Cross in Lewiston, will be parochial vicar of St. Louis Parish in Fort Kent, St. Charles Parish in St. Francis, St. Joseph Parish in Wallagrass and St. Mary Parish in Eagle Lake.
The Rev. Kent Ouellette will be parochial vicar of St. Andre, St. Joseph and St. Mary’s Parish in Biddeford, effective June 22.
Pat Philips, administrator of Sacred Heart, Lubec, and St. Timothy, Campobello, New Brunswick, will be taking a leave of absence.
The Rev. Mark Nolette, pastor of Immaculate Conception, Calais, will be administrator of Sacred Heart, Lubec, and St. Timothy in Campobello, New Brunswick, in addition to his duties as administrator in Machias.
The Rev. Frank Morin will be administrator of Immaculate Conception Parish, Calais, in addition to his duties as pastor at St. Ann in Indian Township and St. James in Baileyville.
The Rev. James Doherty, pastor of Most Holy Trinity in Saco, is being reassigned by his community.

The Rev. Renald Labarre has been assigned pastor of St. Mary and St. Andre’s parishes in Biddeford in addition to his duties at St. Joseph in Biddeford, effective date not yet determined.
