Rhode Island man charged in club fight

MADAWASKA – A Providence, R.I., man was charged with reckless conduct in connection to a fight at Rumors Pub early Sunday morning.

Edwin Lopez, 19, was linked to a fight that erupted at the Madawaska nightclub when it was closing at around 1 a.m. Sunday.

Madawaska Police Chief Ronald Pelletier said charges would be leveled against other people before the investigation is completed.

“There were a lot of people involved in the incident,” he said. “There were a lot of people at the club that night.

“We don’t know everything that went on, but tempers flew, and alcohol was involved,” he said. “The officers are tracking down people, trying to find out what happened.”

Pelletier said his officers are in the midst of the investigation. They are trying to round up as many people as they can who were at the club.

He expects that others will be charged and the courts will sort out what happened.

Pelletier said there were

no injuries in the incident, but a fight broke out and a number of people became involved.
