Magan, 8, loves hugs, swimming

Magan is a happy, energetic and talkative girl who enjoys giving and receiving hugs. Her baby dolls are very important to her, and she loves to play house, swim and play outside.

Magan is polite, and her behavior has improved since she first came into care.

Magan and her brother and sister came into the care of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services in July 2002. Parental rights have been terminated, and she is legally free for adoption.

Magan enjoys spending time with her older sister, Amanda, 10, who lives in another foster home. She has made significant gains at home, at school and with her relationships with her friends. She tries hard to please others and receives individual therapy to deal with the challenges of her past.

Magan would do best in a two-parent family where she is the youngest child, as she needs consistency and a lot of love. Her adoptive family will have to be very patient and committed. Due to Magan’s developmental delays, she requires a great deal of repetition, guidance and supervision.

Adoption subsidy may be available to the most appropriate family.

Magan is one of 226 Maine children in the care of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services who is seeking an adoptive family. For information about Magan or other children available for adoption, please contact A Family for ME at (877) 505-0545 or visit www.afamilyforme.org.

Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
