Hall goes deep twice, leads Montville to sweep

SEARSPORT – Nate Hall hit a pair of home runs as Montville edged Blue Hill 7-6 in the second game after notching a 12-2 Bay League baseball win in the first game Sunday.

Montville won the opener 12-2, scoring 10 runs in the first inning thanks in part to a grand slam by Bob Withee and a two-run blast by Ben Relyea.

In the first game, Greg Thayer added a two-run double and Roland Littlefield an RBI single for Montville.

Jim Porter singled home a run for Blue Hill.

In the second game, Hall hit a three-run homer in the first inning as Montville took a 4-0 lead, then stroked a two-run shot in the bottom of the fifth to break a 5-5 tie.

Devin Potvin added two singles and Relyea an RBI single for Montville.

Blake Alley hit a home run and a single for Blue Hill, while Justin Harmon and Toby Cole each singled twice.

Quirk Auto sweeps Searsport

At Husson College, Bangor, Brad Wheaton allowed just one hit and no walks while striking out nine through five inning to earn the 10-0 win for Quirk Auto of Bangor in the first game. Quirk Auto also won the second game 11-3.

In the first game, Darrin Daniels had three singles and two RBIs for Quirk Auto. Aaron Largay and Wheaton both hit two singles.

Dustin Jalburt singled in the third inning for Searsport AAA.

In the second game, Largay hit a triple and two singles to drive in three runs for Quirk Auto and Daniels doubled and singled with two RBIs. Josh Emerson, Wheaton, and Cliff Urquhart each had two singles.

Shane Eddy doubled for Searsport AAA.

Aerus 9-1, Movingme.com 8-7

At Hermon, Randy Renaud hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Aerus Electrolux the 9-8 victory over Movingme.com in the first game on Sunday. Movingme.com won the second game 7-1.

In the first game, Mark Farnham hit a two-run double for Aerus and Nate Hall had two singles to knock in a run.

Anthony Shaw had three singles and a double to drive in a run for Movingme.com. Ryan Knight singled twice and Ryan Lynch hit a two-run double.

In the second game, James Strout had three singles and a triple with three RBIs for Movingme.com. Jerod Shaw doubled and singled to knock in a run and Greg Hawes added an RBI double.

Farnham singled and hit a solo home run in the second inning for Aerus and Phil Cayford doubled and singled.

UBS Financial 14, Woodman’s 2

At Orono, Craig Harvey hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning to help push UBS Financial of Bangor to the win on Sunday.

Chris McHale had a double and two singles with two RBIs for UBS and Adam Sheehan doubled and singled. Travis Tripp and Jason Weymouth each had two singles with two RBIs.

Weymouth had nine strikeouts.

Billy Baker doubled and singled to knock in two runs for Woodman’s.
