CALAIS – Sam Merrill hit a double and three singles to drive in one run and help give the Trenton Acadians a 7-5 American Legion baseball win over Calais Sunday.

Blake Wessel doubled and singled to knock in a run for Trenton and Adam Cousins doubled.

Steve Colbeth had three singles and three RBIs for Calais and Justin Leblanc had two singles and two runs scored.

Waldo 10, Penquis 1

At Belfast, Brendan Gardner hit a solo home run in the first inning and a two-run home run in the seventh inning to help lead Waldo to victory on Sunday.

Miles Davee had a double and two singles to drive in three runs for Waldo and Noah Burke singled twice.

Eric Day hit three singles for Penquis and Aaron Woodman scored the only run.

Trenton, Presque Isle split

At Ellsworth on Saturday, Blake Wessel hit a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Trenton an 8-7 victory in the first game of a doubleheader.

Presque Isle won the second game 9-4 thanks to a complete-game pitching performance by Erick Martinez.

In the first game, Adam Cousins had an RBI single and Will Rosenthal hit a two-run single as the Acadians rallied from a 6-3 deficit to force extra innings.

Cousins finished with a double, two singles and three RBIs, while Kyle Shea had four singles.

Tim Lyford singled twice for the Patriots.

In the second game, Chad Lavway had four singles and two RBIs for Presque Isle, while Harry Austin and R.J. Richardson had two singles each.

Cory Smith led Trenton with two singles and three runs scored, while Cousins and Harrison Hines also singled twice each.

Bangor, Lincoln split

At Lincoln, Drew Welch pitched a six hitter and Tyler Thompson hit a home run as Lincoln Lumber defeated Bangor 3-2 to salvage a split of their doubleheader Saturday

Bangor won the opener 12-1 behind the three-hit pitching of Josh Young.

In the first game, Kyle Gallant hit a two-run home run and two singles for Bangor, while Brian Hackett hit a solo homer, Gordon Webb doubled and singled and Jordan Heath singled twice.

Young struck out five and walked no one.

In the second game, Lincoln scored a run in the first inning on an RBI single by Blaine Clark, and two runs in the second on an RBI groundout by Josh Seeley that plated D.J. Robinson and Thompson’s solo home run.

Robinson and Jason Murchison each had two singles for the Lumber, while Welch struck out three and walked one.

Scott Hackett had an RBI single for Bangor.

Penquis sweeps Calais

At Husson College in Bangor, Danny Kane hit an RBI single to tie the game in the seventh and scored on a throwing error to lead Penquis to a 9-8 win in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader. Penquis won the first game 6-3.

In the first game, Aaron Woodman hit an RBI single in the sixth to lead Penquis to the win. Shayne Croan hit a two-run single.

Lloyd Burnside doubled for Calais and James Ramsdell hit an RBI single.

In the second game, Kane had three singles and an RBI for Penquis and Sam Bowers had two singles and two RBIs. Woodman had two singles and an RBI and Nick Lancisi doubled.

Steve Colbeth hit a double and a three-run triple for Calais. James Ramsdell and Jeff Ramsdell each had an RBI single.

Hampden sweeps Waldo

At Hampden, Ian lee hit a two-run home run and drove in four runs to help lead Hampden to the 11-8 win on Saturday over Waldo. Hampden also took the second game 6-4.

In the first game, Chris Pease had a double and two singles with two RBIs for Hampden.

Mike Adams hit three singles and scored three runs for Waldo. Noah Burke doubled and singled and scored twice.

In the second game, Lee had two singles and a double with two runs scored and Brett Danforth doubled and singled with an RBI.

Burke doubled and singled and scored a run for Waldo.

At Old Town, Cory Estes had a double, a single, and five RBIs to help lead the Orono Twins by the Hampden Riverdogs Sunday.

Brian Roach had two singles and four RBIs for the 2-2 Twins. Jarrett Lukas had a double and a single and Cody Andrews added two singles.

Chris Pease hit a two-run home run in the eighth and singled to pace the Riverdogs. Brett Danforth and Dan MacLean each singled twice.

Brewer, Orono split pair

At Heddericg Field in Brewer Saturday, the visiting Orono Twins scored three runs in the sixth to take a 5-4 victory in the first game of a doubleheader. Brewer came back to win 7-2 in the nightcap, thanks to a five-run inning in the third.

In the second game, four walks, a two-run single by Pat Moran, an RBI double by Corey Cushing, and an RBI single by Chris MaGuire gave Brewer a comfortable 6-1 lead in the third.

Moran led the way with a solo homer in the second, a single, and three total RBIs.

Jarrett Lucas led Orono with a double, a single and an RBI.

In the first game, Mike Tardiff pitched a complete game and yielded 10 hits on the way to the win. Jarrett Lucas led Orono offensively with a triple, double, single and one RBI. Cody Andrews had a double and a single while Jacob Lucas had two singles and an RBI.

Kevin McAvoy was 3-for-3 with a double and two singles. Joe Robichaud hit a two-run home run for Brewer in the third. Chris Maguire doubled twice and Ben Davis singled twice.
