Indiana woman hurt in Brewer accident

BREWER – Firefighters extricated an Indiana woman from her car Monday after she crossed the centerline on North Main Street and struck a tractor-trailer.

Although her car was demolished, Tracy Marschall, 36, suffered relatively minor injuries and was treated at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Sgt. Chris Martin of the Brewer Police Department said Monday.

The accident occurred about 9:50 a.m. when Marschall was heading south on North Main Street and for some reason crossed the centerline, Martin said. The car struck the driver’s side of the tractor-trailer near the fuel tank and tires.

The tractor-trailer was driven by Roderick Philbrick, 61, of Winterport, who was not injured in the accident, Martin said.

Both vehicles ended up on opposite sides of the road, which was blocked off for about half an hour, Martin said, allowing Brewer rescue personnel to remove Marschall from her car and both vehicles to be towed away.

Brewer firefighters used hydraulic extricating equipment to remove the woman from the car.
