WILLIMANTIC – The high price of gasoline may have driven a thief Sunday to break into a camp owner’s garage, where he siphoned a few gallons of gasoline from lawn and garden equipment stored inside.
The thief apparently cared less about the thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment inside the garage than the gasoline that was inside the vehicles, according to Investigator Guy Dow of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department.
Dow said gasoline was siphoned from a chain saw, wood splitter and lawnmower. A gas can also was taken.
The break-in is under investigation and Dow has suspects.
