CONCORD, N.H. – In a show of support for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Gov. John Lynch has proclaimed Wednesday, July 6, “Save Our Shipyard” Day in New Hampshire.

That is the day federal commissioners will be in Boston to gather testimony that will help them decide the fate of New England military bases the Pentagon wants to close or realign.

Lawmakers and workers in Maine and New Hampshire are staging a campaign to get the shipyard off the closure list.

The shipyard, located across the river from Kittery, Maine, employs workers from New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts.
