Amanda is a sweet girl with brown hair and brown eyes. She loves to play outside, to jump on the trampoline, to swim, to ride her bike and to play basketball.
Ten-year-old Amanda came into the care of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services in July 2002 with her brother and sister. Parental rights have been terminated and she is legally free for adoption.
A fan of camping and family trips, Amanda also enjoys going to church and spending time with her sister Magan, who lives in another foster home. Amanda has many friends and has made progress in maintaining those relationships. Those who know her well describe Amanda as polite, likable and a hardworking student. She benefits from step-by-step directives and support, likes to sit and read or write and has a great imagination.
Amanda can be quite lively and animated and has a great sense of humor. She wants to be helpful and to please others. She does her chores willingly and likes to help out around the house. Amanda is very nurturing and loves animals and one-on-one attention.
An adoptive family for Amanda must be very patient with her and committed to her. She will be most successful in a nurturing family that can provide structure and consistent routine. Adoption subsidy may be available.
Amanda is one of 220 Maine children currently in the care of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services. For more information about Amanda or other children available for adoption, contact A Family for ME at (877) 505-0545 or visit www.afamilyforme.org.
Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
