GREENVILLE – John Cobb has been elected fire chief.

Former Chief Michael Drinkwater will serve as training officer.

Other officers elected by firefighters include Richard Peat as first assistant chief; Joey Harris, second assistant chief; Josh Gould, first captain; Earl Mann, second captain; and Bruce Reed, secretary and treasurer.

Cobb, who has been with the department for nine years, said the department’s big focus this year would be on revitalizing the fire department building.

Firefighters received a $75,000 Federal Fire Act grant that will be used to purchase new equipment such as a compressor to fill air bottles, radio equipment and turnout gear, he said Friday.
