Brewer stars edge Bangor

BANGOR – Shawn Murphy hit an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning to drive in Andy Bush and lead Brewer to a 4-3 victory over Bangor in a District 3 Junior League all-star baseball game Saturday at Mansfield Stadium.

Eric White hit two RBI triples for Brewer and Billy Bissell tripled.

Nick Standley doubled and singled for Bangor. Jordan Clarke and Ryan LaRochelle each had two singles and Lonnie Hackett tripled.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Kyle Senter hit two singles and scored four runs to lead Holbrook past Orono-Veazie on Saturday.

Nick Pooler singled and drove in three runs for Holbrook and Bennett Higgins singled twice.

Adam Leadbetter, Dan Taft, Ryan Carr, Matt Storgaard, Kash Keezer, Dan Lesser, and Shane Hass each singled.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Nolan Turner hit a double and two singles to drive in four runs and lead Hampden to victory on Saturday.

Josh Tardiff had two singles and three RBIs for Hampden and Brad Melanson added two singles and two RBIs. Brad Hersey and Johnathan Johnson both singled twice and had an RBI apiece.

Brandon LeVasseur hit three singles for Old Town as Ryan Maddocks and Steven Kelley each doubled.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Andrew Casey and Jared Theriault each hit RBI singles to contribute to a six-run fifth inning and lead Glenburn past Lincoln on Saturday.

Tim Kennerson had two singles and two RBIs for Glenburn and struck out 12 while on the mound. Theriault singled twice to drive in two runs and Matt McLaughlin added two singles.

Ethan White had two singles to knock in a run for Lincoln and Tyler Tash singled twice.

Holbrook 6, Katahdin 4

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Holbrook took advantage of nine walks and three errors in the first four innings to plate six runs and take the win on Sunday.

Tyler Bessette struck out 12 for Holbrook and Matt Duplisea hit an RBI double in the fourth inning.

Ethan Qualey had two singles and an RBI for Katahdin and Josh Guiggey singled twice.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Marcus Leek’s two-run single with one out in the bottom of the seventh lifted Orono-Veazie past Old Town, which was eliminated.

Ryan Carr pitched two shutout innings of relief to earn the victory.

Bill Weatherbee paced the winners with a double, single and three RBIs and Adam Leadbetter added three singles and an RBI. Matt Storgaard and Dan Taft each added two singles.

Jason Smith and Brandon LeVasseur each singled twice and drove in a run for Old Town and Aaron Riva had two singles.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Bangor sent 22 batters to the plate in a 16-run first inning highlighted by three Ryan LaRochelle hits en route to the victory.

Zane Gray earned the win after allowing only two hits and a run in four innings.

LaRochelle finished with a triple, two singles and four RBIs for the winners and Jason Duff added a double, two singles and three RBIs. Nick Standley chipped in with a double, single and three RBIs; Jordan Clarke had a triple and single; and John Warren had two singles and an RBI.

Ethan White had an RBI single for Lincoln.

At Deer Isle, Sam Grindle allowed just one run on one hit and two walks while recording 13 strikeouts to lead Coastal to victory.

Mitchell Burgess and Nathan Davis each had two singles with two RBIs for Coastal. Hayden Ciomei hit a two-run double and Zach Hilts singled with three RBIs.

Matt Manheim hit an RBI single in the first inning for Ellsworth.

At Bar Harbor, Seth Vandergrift allowed five runs and two hits while striking out 12 to lead the Acadians to the win on Saturday.

Caleb Cough hit two singles and drove in a run for Acadians.

Jordan Perkins hit an RBI double for Calais.

At Machias, Teagan Donohue hit four singles, a double, and a triple and drove in three runs to lead Calais to victory.

Bridget Hunnewell had four singles and two doubles with two RBIs for Calais. Sarah Smith hit a triple and three singles to knock in three runs and Miranda McLean added two singles and two doubles with two RBIs. Meaghan Cavanaugh and Chloe Black both had three singles and two RBIs.

Emily Day singled and drove in a run for Machias and Amanda Preston singled.
