Beach to Beacon champs to defend titles

Kenyans Gilbert Okari and Susan Chepkemei are returning to Cape Elizabeth on August 6 in hopes of defending their 2004 TD Banknorth Beach to Beacon 10K titles. Chepkemei blew away the competition a year ago, finishing the 6.2-mile course in 31 minutes, 35 seconds. Okari held off countrymen Thomas Kiplitan and Wilson Kiprotich, who are also returning. Okari’s winning time last year was 27:35.
