Rawcliffe leads Hampden; Millinocket tips Holbrook

GLENBURN – Charlie Rawcliffe spun a no-hitter, striking out nine and walking only two as Hampden eliminated Glenburn from the ages 11-12 District 3 Little League all-star baseball tourney with an 8-0 victory.

Rawcliffe helped his cause with a double and single. Ricky Snow and Jerry Doyon also had a double and a single.

Millinocket 2, Holbrook 1

At Millinocket, Dylan Bouchard hit an RBI single in the third inning to give for the eventual game-winner for Millinocket.

Brandon McLaughlin and Ethan Michaud both added a single.

For Holbrook, Mike Deschenes and Ryan Adams both had singles.

Bangor East 20, Katahdin 2

At Benedicta, Luke Hetterman racked up two singles, a double, triple, four RBIs and tossed a complete game with 10 strikeouts as Bangor East piled on 12 runs in the sixth inning to roll to the win.

Seth Friedenberg had two singles, two doubles and plated five runs while Tyler Desjardins notched two singles and four RBIs for the winners.

Pat Goodall tripled while Dylan Willette and Cody Cunningham doubled for Katahdin.

Acadians 15, Bucksport I 2

At Bar Harbor, Ben Walls hit two RBI triples for the Acadians, one coming in the eight- run fifth inning.

Keegan McKim chipped in with a triple and single, and Robbie Logue hit three singles. Winning pitcher Seth Vandergrift, who struck out nine, aided his own cause with two singles.

For Bucksport I, Jeff Witham hit a single, and Dylan Ashmore had two doubles and an RBI.

Calais 8, Machias 7

At Machias, Calais rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth to stay alive in the tournament.

Jordan Perkins pitched a four-hitter for the winners and aided his own cause with a triple. Ryan Johnson stroked two doubles.

Fred Mclean hit a two-run double for Machias, which was eliminated.

Coastal 8, Ellsworth 4

At Ellsworth, Jordan Lord hit a two-run single and Nathan Davis had an RBI triple to spark a four-run fifth-inning rally that carried Coastal to victory.

Lord also doubled, Davis added a single and Connor Morey hit a two-run double. Sam Grindle scattered six hits, striking out 11, and posted two singles and an RBI.

Riley Dewitt paced Ellsworth with a triple, double, single and two RBIs.

At Hampden, Josh Shaw had three singles and an RBI for Lincoln in the win.

Wyatt Tash had three singles and two RBIs while Nick Haynes doubled, singled and plated a pair for the winners.

Robbie Rockwell and Jesse Beaulieu each had an RBI single for Katahdin and Cody Lassonde notched two singles and two RBIs.

At Hampden, pitcher Gabe Melmed hit two singles and had 12 strikeouts while teammate Trevor Francis added an RBI single. The team also had no errors on the night.

For Holbrook, Shawn Curran had a triple and a single. Parker Benson and Charles Kindya both added a single.

At Knox, winning pitcher Christopher Montimny struck out nine and Bobby Porter doubled and singled to lead Waldo County to victory.

Shawn Sprague, John Wilcox, and Seth Batty each singled for Knox.

Ellsworth 35, Sunrise 5

At Ellsworth, Holly Hutchinson knocked a two-run single and an RBI double as Ellsworth rolled to the win in four innings.

Heather Holt registered a triple, single, double and drove in five runs for Ellsworth and Nicole Austin hit a two-run single and triple.

Whytne Crabtree slapped a two-run single in the first inning for Sunrise and Kristina Bailey added three singles.
