Lord, Davis lead Coastal past Ellsworth Bangor East blanks Millinocket

ELLSWORTH – Jordan Lord hit a two-run single and Nathan Davis had an RBI triple to spark a four-run fifth-inning rally to lead the Coastal 9-10 All Stars to an 8-4 District 1 baseball win over Ellsworth Thursday.

Lord also doubled, Davis added a single and Connor Morey hit a two-run double. Sam Grindle scattered six hits, striking out 11, and posted two singles and an RBI.

Riley Dewitt paced Ellsworth with a triple, double, single and two RBIs.

At Hampden, Justin Courtney spun a no-hitter, striking out 12 in addition to hitting an RBI single as Bangor East blanked Millinocket.

Nick Ashey slammed a two-run homer in the third for the winners. Matt Cosgrove and Greg Duff each had an RBI single while Brendan Moore had three singles and an RBI.

Brewer 2, Hampden 1

At Hampden, winning pitcher Spencer Valley aided his own cause hit a two-run single in the first inning to give Brewer the winning margin.

Kyle Alexander added two singles and Matt Morrow singled for the winners. Valley allowed only one hit and struck out seven.

For Hampden, Will Manning had an RBI single and Matt Martin struck out 11.

Coastal 5, Bucksport 3 (7 inn.)

At Bucksport, Nick Kane slapped a two-run single in the top of the seventh inning to give Coastal the winning edge.

Josh Gale had a single and a double for the winners.

Tim Nason knocked a two-run homer in the third for Bucksport. Zach Hall notched two singles and Tyler French added a triple.

Calais 11, Moosabec 1

At Calais, Scott Carpenter laced an RBI triple and a single while Adam Geel racked up two doubles, a single and plated three runs as Calais bounced Moosabec from the tourney.

Stephen Smith tossed a complete game for the winners, giving up just one run on two hits while striking out 10 and walking two.

Joe Perreault doubled and Zach Smith singled for Moosabec.

Acadian 9, Machias 4

At Machias, Chase Bickford hit a grand slam in the first and a solo homer in the third to go with a single, totaling five RBIs as Acadian rolled to the win.

Nick Shaw added a pair of singles for the winners.

Ryan Getchell notched two singles and two RBIs to lead Machias. Will Manchester tripled and Jacob Scoville hit two singles.

At Hampden, Hunter Boyce for Bangor West had twelve strike-outs and gave up only three hits.

Tyler LaPlante hit an RBI double and Jackson Coch had an RBI single.

For Orono-Veazie, Keegan Thomas hit a double and drove in three runs. Jordan Carr added a single.

At Orrington, Emily Cox didn’t allow a hit in four innings and struck out 14 to lead Orrington by Bangor East.

Amy Curry tripled and Laura Jordan singled for the winners.

At Orrington, Julie Clifford had three singles and Kim Jordan added two singles to pace Bangor West.

Jayci Fournier chipped in with a double for the winners.

For Glenburn, Alix Rudzinski hit a triple and Jesse Devoue had a double.

Machias 26, Moosabec 16

At Jonesport, Christina Ramsdell slammed a two-run homer as part of a 12-run fifth inning for Machias.

Machias trailed 16-14 going into the bottom of the frame, then plated 12 runs to end the game due to the mercy rule.

Ramsell had another two-run homer earlier in the game for Machias. Kayla Conley had a solo shot and two singles while Tiffany Preston singled twice and tripled.

Holly Crowley had a triple and Laura Kilton a double for Moosabec.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Chase Daniels rapped an RBI single to plate Sam Murphy in the bottom of the seventh to give Brewer the win.

Joey Cox had two singles with an RBI for Brewer while Andy Bush doubled and Billy Bissell tripled and pitched 2 2/3 innings of relief to earn the win.

Shawn Smith had a couple of singles for Hampden.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Miles Gagnon had an RBI triple and RBI double to lead Glenburn to victory.

Andrew Casey notched three singles and two RBIs for the winners.

Nick Christie led Holbrook with two singles and an RBI while Brandon Carney doubled.
