A local resident told police on Friday that a woman assaulted her while she was shopping at the Dollar Store. Police were told that the assailant grabbed the victim’s hair, shoved her into the shelves and punched her face, Dexter Police Chief Art Roy said. He said the assault is under investigation. Police also are investigating another theft in which nine fishing rods and reels were taken on Wednesday night from a boat parked outside of a Grove Street home. The value of the items was estimated at $2,500. A similar theft occurred Tuesday night on Spring Street. In that case, rods, reels, tackle and tackle boxes were taken from a pickup truck.
