HAMPDEN – Dr. Alice Briones received a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine during commencement ceremonies June 12. A 1990 graduate of Hampden Academy and a 1994 graduate of the University of Maine, she is the daughter of Bruce and Catherine Reynolds of Hampden.
Briones was re-commissioned as a captain in the U.S. Air Force on June 9 and received the Military Service Leadership Award on June 10. The award is given to a member of the class who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and to the country through a commitment to the armed services of the U.S.
Before attending medical school, Briones was on active duty in the Air Force – first as chief of laboratory services and squadron section commander at Luke AFB in Arizona, and later as clinical laboratory manager at Hanscom AFB in Massachusetts. During those years, she received the Company Grade Officer of the Quarter award four times, the Air Force Commendation Medal twice and the Air Force Air Education and Training Command Clinical Laboratory Manager of the Year award twice.
Briones is a pathology resident at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y. She and her husband, Jesus, live in Webster, N.Y.
