Hackett helps Bangor defeat Calais

BANGOR – Scott Hackett doubled, singled and drove in two runs as Bangor rolled to a 14-3 American Legion baseball victory over Calais at Mansfield Stadium Wednesday night.

Josh Young doubled and singled, and Ryan Kearns doubled for Bangor.

Corey Colbeth led Calais with a double and two singles and James Ramsdell added two singles.

At Belfast, Noah Burke slammed a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth as the Wildcats rallied from a 5-0 deficit to upend the Orono Twins.

Tyson McHatten capped a five-run Waldo rally in the fourth with a three-run homer that tied the game 5-5.

Mike Adams doubled, singled and scored two runs while John Wentworth added two singles.

Jarrett Lukas had a solo homer and a single for Orono.

At Husson College in Bangor, Travis Tripp pitched a two-hit shutout as UBS Financial Services remained undefeated.

Tripp struck out three and walked just one while yielding only singles to Brad Wheaton and Darren Daniels.

Wheaton pitched a five-hitter for Quirk Auto Park.

Jason Harvey had the game’s only extra-base hit, a double, and he drove in a run in the sixth inning.

Steve Estes had an RBI single in the first inning to give UBS the only run it needed. James Gray added an RBI single in the bottom of the third.

At Orono, Searsport’s Matt Cox pitched a four-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts.

Shane Eddy and Will Hinkley each drove in a run and singled for the winners.

Woodman’s Jamie Kennedy had nine strikeouts.

Ben Hubert hit a triple for Woodman’s while Dan Olsen doubled.
