THORNDIKE – The SAD 3 board voted unanimously Monday night to name Lynda Letteney as the new principal of Mount View High School.

Letteney replaces Barbara Adams, who has returned to working as a guidance counselor at the school.

Letteney has been assistant principal at Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro since 1999, Superintendent Dan Lee said. She taught English and social studies at the school for 11 years before becoming assistant principal.

Before that, she taught at Lewiston Junior High School.

Letteney earned a bachelor of arts degree at Bates College in Lewiston, and a master’s degree at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham, Lee said.

“She was really head and shoulders above the other candidates,” board member Martha Piscuskas said of Letteney.

Letteney was not present at the meeting, Lee said, because she was speaking in Texas at a national educational conference on school safety.
