Bangor, Old Town gain wins

BANGOR – Bangor defeated Holbrook 8-3 and Old Town eliminated Glenburn 6-5 in Senior League All-Star baseball tourney action at Mansfield Stadium Friday night.

Bangor advanced in the winners bracket as Gordie Webb’s RBI double and Alex Gallant’s two-run triple highlighted a four-run third inning.

Webb also had three singles and Gallant added a single. Shane Walton chipped in with an RBI triple and RBI single and Kyle Vanidestine singled twice.

Chris Smith tripled and singled for Holbrook, Rick Adams had three singles and an RBI, and Nick Smith singled twice and drove in a run.

In the losers bracket game, Tyler Haney’s single in the top of the eighth drove in Evan Paradis from second to give Old Town the winning run. Paradis singled to lead off the inning and advanced on Josh Clukey’s sacrifice bunt.

Haney scored the tying run in the seventh when he singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch, to third on a groundout, and scored on a wild pitch.

Matt Jones earned the win with two innings of one-hit relief with four strikeouts.

Max Winter led Glenburn with a two-run triple and RBI double. Collin Bates added three singles.

At Bucksport, Tim Nathan pitched a complete-game three-hitter with 12 strikeouts, and helped his cause with a double and a single as Bucksport knocked off the Acadians 8-3 in District 1 11-12 Little League All-Star baseball action Friday.

Cody Miller drove in two runs with a single, Cody Farrell hit two singles with an RBI, and Ryan Bailey had two singles for the winners.

Donnie Hanson had a single with two RBIs to lead the Acadians. Jason Carbone hit an RBI single and Gordon Falt added a single.

Ellsworth 11, Calais 3

At Calais, Cameron Crawford allowed just three runs on two hits while striking out 15 to earn the win for Ellsworth.

Josh Fowler and Stephen Kilby each singled home a run for the winners.

Jesse Clark and Jack Melhiser each singled for Calais.

At Hampden, Zach Violette fanned 14 in a complete-game victory for Brewer.

Spencer Valley had two singles and an RBI for the winners and Matt Morrow laced an RBI double.

Gabe Melmed racked up two doubles, a single and two RBIs for Old Town and Cameron Archer tripled and singled.

Bucksport 12, Machias 2

At Bucksport, Marshall Harriman had a double, single and three RBIs as Bucksport eliminated Machias.

Keegan Harriman added two singles and two RBIs while Dylan Dedman had two singles and an RBI for the winners.

Justin Weaver and Mike Lenfestey each singled for Machias.

In a Thursday game, Coastal defeated Acadia 11-2.

At the 13th Street Complex in Bangor, Annie Guare doubled and singled and Jade Baumrind added two singles to lead Bangor.

Morgan Johnson added a double for the winners.

Kayla Marquis paced Orono-Veazie with two triples and two singles. Chloe Douglass added a triple, double and two singles while Bridget Vinal and Kate Berry each had a double and two singles.

At Calais, Kaitlyn Look hit two doubles and a single with four RBIs to lead Machias to the win.

Sarah Smith added a two-run triple for Machias.

Rebecca Redding led Calais hit two singles and an RBI, Brianna Black had three singles and Shannon Brown had two doubles with a single.
