Two Bangor East baseball teams captured District 3 titles while softball teams from Orrington and Glenburn also won District 3 crowns in Little League All-Star action over the weekend.

In baseball, Bangor East edged Brewer 6-5 to win the age 9-10 title and Bangor East blanked Bangor West 9-0 to capture the 11-12 crown. In softball, Orrington beat Bangor West 7-2 to collect the 11-12 championship while Glenburn nipped Old Town 4-3 to win the 13-14 title.

Baseball

District 3, 9-10

Bangor East 6, Brewer 5

At Hampden Saturday, Bangor East’s Nick Leach blasted a fifth-inning triple to drive in the winning run en route to the District 3 championship. He also singled and finished with three RBIs.

Nick Ashey scored the winning run for Bangor East after being hit by a pitch. He also singled twice.

Matt Morrow hit a double and had two RBIs in the fourth to tie the game at 5-5 for Brewer. Ben Pushard added two singles and an RBI.

At 13th Street Complex in Bangor Saturday, Tyler Desjardins helped lead Bangor East to the District 3 title with his arm and his bat as he pitched a two-hit shutout, hit a home run, doubled, and drove in three runs.

Luke Hetteman singled twice to pace Bangor East.

Jack Stacey and Jacques Larochelle each singled for Bangor West’s only hits.

Holbrook 4, Old Town 1

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor Sunday, Nick Smith’s two-run single in the sixth gave Holbrook a lead it wouldn’t give up and he allowed just one run on four hits in six innings of work to earn the win and eliminate Old Town.

Prentiss Sweat hit a solo home run and a single for Holbrook. Chris Smith hit two singles and pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to earn a save.

Jarrett Lukas hit a double for Old Town.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor Saturday, Brewer remained unbeaten in the tourney as Eric White pitched a three-hitter and allowed one earned run against previously unbeaten Glenburn.

David McNally hit an RBI single for Brewer, which scored twice in the fifth with two outs Thursday before rain halted the game.

Alan Reese hit an RBI single for Glenburn.

At Mansfield Stadium Sunday, Bangor scored four runs in the second and never looked back to survive an elimination game and move into the finals.

Mack Susi had a two-run single and an RBI triple to pace Bangor. Ryan Larochelle had two doubles, a single and three RBIs. Jordan Clarke added three singles and an RBI, and Zane Gray singled twice.

Alan Reese’s RBI single provided Glenburn’s only run.

Softball

District 3, 11-12

Orrington wins title

At Orrington, Kelcey Simpson struck out 13 batters, walked three and allowed her first hit of the tournament to lead Orrington to the District 3 Little League championship with a 7-2 victory over Bangor West.

On Sunday, Dana Detour and Simpson each had a double, single, and two RBIs for Orrington. Amy Curry added an RBI double.

Julie Clifford hit a two-run double to left in the sixth for Bangor West.

On Saturday, Bangor West avoided elimination by scoring 14 runs on two hits and knocking off Glenburn 14-8.

Clifford led Bangor West with a double, a single, and three RBIs.

Alix Rudzinski hit a solo home run and doubled for Glenburn. Jessie Devoe had two singles and Jessie Bradford hit an RBI double.

At Old Town Sunday, Sam Bedore led Glenburn to the District 3 title by pitching a four-hitter, striking out 13 batters, walking four, and hitting an RBI double.

Glenburn scored the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the seventh. After Sheree Rice drew a leadoff walk, Megan Call pinch ran and moved to second on a groundout. A Brianna Tocci single later, Alexis Casey scored Call with the tying run on a single, but Tocci was thrown out trying to score. Another walk later, Bedore’s grounder to the third base gap was mishandled, allowing Casey to score.

Katharine Bragg tripled for Glenburn while Hillary Campbell led old Town with a two-run single in the fifth. Whitney Leland had a double and single for Old Town.

At Bangor’s 13th Street Complex Saturday, Susie Outman racked up five RBIs on a home run and a single to power Old Town.

Victoria Nase drove in four runs on a triple and three singles. Kendra Hayward had a double, two singles and two RBIs, while Meaghan Morin and Geneve Peterpaul each singled twice.

Orono-Veazie’s Kayla Marquis had a five-RBI game to go with a home run, a double and three singles. Katrina Howland hit four singles, Bridget Vinal had a home run and two singles, and Elly Kass had a double and two singles.

At Bangor’s 13th Street Complex Saturday, Kelcey Steward knocked in two runs on two doubles and two singles as Lincoln prevailed.

Lincoln’s Mikaila Bisson hit four singles and Ashley Libby had three singles and two RBIs. Taylor Gardner added two singles and an RBI.

Alyshia Canwell and Katie Blanchard each singled twice and had an RBI for Glenburn and Olivia Dahlbergh had an RBI double.

At Bangor’s 13th Street Complex Sunday, Kayla Snow tripled, doubled, and had four RBIs to led Hermon to the win.

Abby Burgess had three RBIs on three doubles and a single for Hermon and Laura Sirois tripled, doubled and singled for two RBIs.

Jade Baumrind singled three times for Bangor and Katelyn Burns doubled.

At Bangor’s 13th Street Complex Sunday, Caitlin Goodwin and Kendra Howard each hit two singles and had an RBI in Old Town’s victory.

Susie Outman paced Old Town with four RBIs on a triple and a single.

Taylor Gardner racked up three singles, a double and an RBI for Lincoln. Carly McDonald hit three singles and had two RBIs, while Taylor Blood added two singles.
