BREWER – Chris Maguire hit a line drive to left field in the eighth inning with the bases loaded that hit off the fielder’s glove to bring in two runs and cap a four-run eighth inning as the Brewer Falcons nipped their cross-river rivals, the Bangor Comrades, 4-3 in American Legion baseball action Monday night.

Kevin McAvoy hit a single and a two-run home run for Brewer and Matt Grimes singled three times. Andrew Patterson, Joe Robicheau, and Ben Davis each singled twice.

Eric Anderson doubled and singled for Bangor. Scott Hackett had an RBI single and Jordan Heath hit two singles.

Hampden 8, Lincoln 0

At Lincoln, Jason Huntley tossed a three-hit shutout, striking out 11 and walking only two as the Riverdogs rolled.

Ian Lee laced a two-run homer and RBI triple for Hampden. Joel Neil hit an RBI single and Chris Pease notched two singles and an RBI.

Blaine Clark doubled and Jason Murchison and Gerry Worster singled for Lincoln.
