SCHWEITZER MOUNTAIN, Colo. – Adam Craig of Corinth earned a pair of top-five finishes here over the weekend as the 2005 Shimano NORBA National Mountain Bike Series resumed after a month-long layoff.
The Giant Bicycles rider placed fourth Sunday in the pro men’s short-track cross country race, a 20-minute timed event on the mountain’s course. Jeremy Horgan Kobelski of the United States won the race and extended his points lead over Canadian Geoff Kabush to 610-590. Craig is now in sixth place in the short-track standings with 533 points.
On Saturday, Craig set the early pace in the men’s pro cross country race and held the lead after the first of three laps, but finished fifth as Liam Killeen of Great Britain passed Craig by the end of the second lap and went on for the victory.
Kabush, who finished fourth, and sixth-place Horgan Kobelski are now tied atop the NORBA cross country standings through four events on the eight-race schedule with 642 points. Craig is third, just 22 points behind.
