A Milford family discovered late Monday afternoon that one of their vehicles had been stolen from their driveway and another burglarized.

A white 2002 GMC SUV was stolen and another vehicle was burglarized, said Sgt. Bill Birch of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department. Numerous items were taken from the remaining vehicle, including $500 cash, two child car seats, a jogging stroller, business paperwork, checks and credit cards.

The investigation is pending, Birch said.

A small fire was discovered late Sunday night at the Penn National Gaming construction site, the former location of Miller’s Restaurant on Main Street in Bangor.

The Bangor Fire Department was dispatched after a witness heard some banging and then three to four voices talking, one of which, according to police reports, said, “Let’s get out of here.”

The witness approached the parking lot and saw three to four young people run toward the downtown area and then noticed a fire at the back of the building.

Police reports said kerosene had been poured from a can onto the pavement and a cardboard barrel had been burned. A matchbook was found near the fire, but police were unsure whether the matches had been used to begin the fire.

The fire didn’t damage or touch the building, according to police.

There are no suspects, but the investigation is pending.
