The Dover-Foxcroft Homecoming Committee has announced that the Maine Army National Guard will host a flyover of a Black Hawk helicopter during the Aug. 6 Homecoming Shiretown Parade. The helicopter will be staffed by members of the 112th Medivac Unit from Bangor, who recently returned from Iraq. The Guard will be in town for the celebration between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. and will land the helicopter at a location to be announced. The Guard also will have other types of equipment on display until 2 p.m., and members will be on hand to answer questions. In addition, the Guard will provide a flatbed on which all veterans and those on active duty service will be able to ride during the parade. They will be featured as a “Remember the Vets” float. All veterans are encouraged to contact the town office at 564-3318 to sign up to participate.
