ORONO – The University of Maine field hockey team will play just four home games this season, according to a schedule released by the university Wednesday.
The Black Bears open at home Saturday, Aug. 27 against Sacred Heart, but head out for a six-game road trip from there. Coach Terri Kix will take UMaine to face her alma mater, the University of Connecticut, in an Aug. 28 matchup near the start of the 2005 season. The Bears will face the Huskies, who went 20-2 and earned a berth in the NCAA tournament last fall, at the start of a six-game road trip.
Maine will also play two games each in New York and Ohio before returning to Orono Sunday, Sept. 18 for a game against UMass. The Bears will open America East conference play Saturday, Oct. 2 at home against Albany.
