Ward has certificates and degrees from Trinity College of Music, London, and the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y.

John Ward, music director of the First Congregational Church on Tenney Hill, has become a fellow of the American Guild of Organists. That represents the guild’s highest certification. Ward has certificates and degrees from Trinity College of Music, London, and the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. His Ph.D. in music theory is from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He has served as pianist, singer, organist, conductor, composer, teacher and representative of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. He will perform a program of Haydn, Schumann, Debussy, Messiaen and Bach at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 29, at Castine Unitarian Church.
