WISCASSET – Puncin St. Clair of Liberty scored his third win of the season in the Late Model Sportsman division by holding off West Gardiner’s Duane Love at Wiscasset Raceway Saturday night.

David St. Clair of Liberty finished third, Jerry Reynolds of Liberty was fourth, and Wiscasset’s Bill Pinkham finished fifth.

NASCAR Busch North Series

At Waterford, Conn., Matt Kobyluck of Uncassville, Conn., led all but two laps to win the Town Fair Tire 150 at Waterford Speedbowl on Saturday night. Bryan Chew of Mattituck, N.Y., finished second, Cherryfield’s Andy Santerre was third, Mike Olsen of North Haverhill, N.H. finished fourth, and Coventry, R.I.,’s Mike Stefanik rounded out the top five.

Scarborough’s Ryan Moore led two laps and finished ninth after starting third.

With the win, Kobyluck cut Stefanik’s NASCAR Busch North Series point lead to 27 points. Santerre sits third in points, just 35 out.

Unity Raceway

Dan Somes of Sidney held off Burnham’s Carl McAlpine to win the second Triple Crown Series race in the Mini-Stock division on Saturday night. Seth Wills of Rome finished third, Reggie Bickford of Oakland was fourth, and Plymouth’s Derrick Terrell finished fifth.

Whitt has Truck Series wins

At Millington, Tenn., Brandon Whitt earned his first NASCAR Truck Series victory Saturday night, taking advantage of Ron Hornaday Jr.’s spin out in the final turn of the O’Reily 200.

Maine driver Ricky Craven finished 27th. He was involved in an accident with 32 laps remaining and didn’t finish the race.

An accident involving Deborah Renshaw brought out the final caution of the race, and Hornaday led Whitt on the restart.

But Hornaday, who has 27 career victories in the series, was forced to slow down because of smoke from Jimmy Spencer’s spin. The two trucks touched and Hornaday spun backwards in Turn 4 at Memphis Motorsports Park.

Whitt, who started on the pole and led the first 46 laps, finished ahead of David Reutimann.

Brendan Gaughan was third and series points leader Dennis Setzer was fourth. David Starr rounded out the top five. Hornaday ended up 21st.

Setzer leads Ted Musgrave by 158 points in the series standings. Musgrave finished 26th after being knocked out of the 202-lap race by engine failure on lap 178.

Kimmel wins ARCA race

At Long Pond, Pa., points leader Frank Kimmel took the lead on the 53rd lap and won the ARCA 200 Saturday at Pocono Raceway for his series-high fourth victory of the season.

While Kimmel has dominated the ARCA series with six straight championships, he found it pretty tough to take the checkered flag at Pocono. Since winning at the 2.5-mile triangular track in 1999, Kimmel finished second in the race three times.

“We’ve had a lot of great success here, we just haven’t won a lot,” Kimmel said.

Chad McCumbee roared back from the 34th spot to finish .963 seconds behind Kimmel and Erin Crocker, one of stock car racing’s promising young female drivers, was third in the 80-lap race. David Ragan and Ken Weaver rounded out the top five.

Driving for Evernham Motorsports, Crocker had another encouraging finish to go along with her two previous poles. Interest in Crocker has grown recently, likely spurred by the soaring popularity of Danica Patrick in the Indy Racing League.
