A Bangor man was arrested Sunday evening for assaulting his live-in girlfriend.

The woman called Bangor police just after 5 p.m. and reported her boyfriend, Troy Blair, 23, had thrown some items at her and spit in her face, the police report said.

The incident had started that morning, according to the report, when the two were arguing about their cat needing to get into the bathroom to use the litter box, but couldn’t because the door was closed.

Both Blair and the woman said they had separated after the morning argument, but started arguing again later that afternoon.

Blair told police that his girlfriend was brushing her teeth and had spit at him. In return, Blair said he spit in her face. He also added that at one point, he grabbed the woman by her ankles and dragged her off the bed and across the bedroom floor. According to the report, Blair said “it was no big deal.”

Police arrested Blair for domestic assault and took him to Penobscot County Jail.
