Welcome to Scott Levy, new producing artistic director of Penobscot Theatre Company. Scott and his family moved to Bangor purposefully because of PTC and our fair city. Scott’s energy and enthusiasm bodes well for the future of PTC and the Bangor Opera House. What a perfect time for this community to take on renovation of our rough diamond on Main Street.
When PTC moved to its present location in the Opera House, it sold its former home, the parish house of the Unitarian Church, to Merrill Bank. Currently undergoing serious renovation, the parish house will eventually become a polished pearl of great historic and aesthetic value for our downtown.
Similarly, with city, community, foundation, philanthropic and citizen support, the Bangor Opera House can become an attractive multi-arts center that leads the creative economy in downtown Bangor.
Our challenge now is to link Scott Levy’s energy with other civic entities to create a renovated Bangor Opera House, the Hope Diamond in the necklace of Main Street jewels.
