Penobscot County District Attorney R. Christopher Almy’s car will be making the trip from Dover-Foxcroft to Bangor without him. Penobscot County officials on Tuesday authorized that the car, damaged in an accident last week, be towed and repaired in Bangor. Almy, 56, of Charleston, who also serves as the Piscataquis County District Attorney, was not injured in the accident, although the Penobscot County-owned 2002 Oldsmobile had damage estimated at $2,500. “It should be fixed down here, ” Commissioner Tom Davis said. Almy was heading north on North Street in Dover-Foxcroft about 6:45 p.m. when a car driven by Steven Oakes, 25, of Dover-Foxcroft failed to yield the right of way and turned in front of Almy, according to the police report. Oakes was not injured in the accident. Almy’s car took the brunt of the damage. Oakes’ 1996 Mazda had $500 in damage. (Doug Kesseli, BDN)
