Bay festival ready to sail Baseball, cruises, canoe races on tap in Bucksport

BUCKSPORT – The eighth annual Fort Knox Bay Festival will be held Friday and Saturday, July 29-30. Activities will include:

Friday, July 29:

. Arrival of U.S. Navy frigate, USS Elrod, noon.

. Senior League State Baseball Tournament, 1:30 and 4:30 p.m., high school baseball field.

. Cruises aboard the Black Prince with Capt. Long Reach, 25 minutes each, 4-6 p.m., town dock. $12, kids $10.

. Bounce house opens, 6 p.m. $1.

. Second annual Teen Night, 7 p.m., Purple Stage behind Town Office. $2. Cash prizes. Participants must pre-register at Chamber of Commerce.

. Pirate cruise for adults aboard the Black Prince, 7-9 p.m. $19.95; half-price for those dressed as pirates. Repeated on Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, July 30:

. Registration for Family 5K Fun Run, 7 a.m., IP-SFCU area.

. Fun Run begins, 8 a.m.

. Twentieth Maine re-enactors’ encampment at Fort Knox, begins at 8 a.m.

. Blueberry pancake breakfast, 9 a.m., Flagpole Point.

. Vendors and crafters along Waterfront Walkway, Bucksport Bay Healthy Communities Expo, all day.

. Parade lineup, 9 a.m., IP parking lot.

. Parade, 10 a.m., Franklin Street to Mill Street to Main Street.

. Bucksport Historical Society, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., train station by the town dock.

. Register for canoe and kayak races, 10:30-11:30 a.m., Verona Island boat landing.

. Dixieland Jazz Band, 11 a.m., Purple Stage.

. Kids’ Center, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., behind the chamber building. Vance’s Tropical Touch Tank, bounce house, games galore. Free child protection and ID services by Felicity Lodge No. 19.

. Antique & Classic Car Show, 11 a.m., Elm and Franklin streets. Catered by men of Elm Street Congregational Church.

. The Road Rangers, country show, Gold Stage, noon and 2 p.m.

. Canoe and kayak races, noon.

. Frigate USS Elrod, beginning at noon.

. Cruises aboard Black Prince with Capt. Long Reach, noon-6 p.m.

. Pies arrive at pie tent 12:30 p.m. for judging at 1 p.m. Slices available after judging, $2.

. Alan Bailey, Amy Maier Musical Show, 1 p.m., Gold Stage.

. Senior League State Baseball Tournament, 1:30 and 4:30 p.m.

. American Glory cruise ship, accompaniment by Maine Squeeze, 3 p.m.

. Willy Kelly Band, 4:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., Gold Stage.

. Steel Appeal steel band, 5 p.m., Purple Stage.

. Jeezum Crowe, 6 p.m., Purple Stage; Brady Harris & Aurora Project, 6 p.m., Gold Stage.

. Bagpiper David Weeda, 7 p.m., Gold Stage.

. Fireworks, 9:30 p.m.

On Sunday, the Bucksport Area Cultural Arts Society will host a classical concert with Alan Bailey and Amy Maier at 6 p.m. at The Alamo, Main Street. Donations accepted.

The Senior League State Baseball Tournament will continue at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m., and the frigate USS Elrod will be at the docks again. Also, the 20th Maine will continue its encampment at Fort Knox.
