Advanced training
GREAT LAKES, Ill. – Navy Hospitalman Jade Zimmerman, daughter of John J. Zimmerman III of Brewer, recently graduated from the Basic Hospital Corps School at Naval Hospital Corps School.
During the 14-week course, Zimmerman learned a range of medical procedures used to provide first aid and assist Navy doctors and nurses. She received instruction for service in medical environments from fleet hospitals and shipboard medical departments to fleet Marine forces and medical administration offices.
Zimmerman will help provide health care to Navy and Marine Corps personnel and their families. Her first assignment after school will involve direct patient care.
Zimmerman is a 2002 graduate of Brewer High School and joined the Navy in July 2003.
LEESVILLE, La. – Army Reserve 2nd Lt. Kelly LaPierre recently arrived at Fort Polk, Leesville, La., to begin training to prepare for deployment to support the missions of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He is a member of the 377th Theater Support Command based in New Orleans.
LaPierre, an automated logistical specialist, is the son of Daniel and Bernice LaPierre of Levant.
Deployed
HONOLULU, Hawaii – Air Force Tech. Sgt. James Onder is currently deployed to Iraq. Onder, a heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration craftsman, is regularly assigned to the 15th Civil Engineer Squadron at Hickam Air Force Base, Honolulu, Hawaii. He has been a member of the military for 12 years. Onder is the son of Kathleen Trafton of Bangor.
