COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Adam Craig of Corinth has earned an automatic berth to compete in the 2005 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Livigno, Italy, according to an announcement Friday by USA Cycling.

Craig and Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski of Boulder, Colo., earned the USA Cycling’s two automatic berths in the elite men’s cross country division for the world championships, to be held Aug. 31-Sept. 4.

The 23-year-old Craig placed 24th in last year’s world championships, held at Les Gets, France. He placed fifth in his most recent race at the Livigno venue, the final event on the 2004 UCI World Cup schedule.

Craig earned his nomination with three top-10 finishes in UCI World Cup events this season, including fourth-place finishes in back-to-back stops in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec, and Balneario Camboriu, Brazil, earlier this summer. Craig is ranked 15th overall in the World Cup standings.

Horgan-Kobelski, the reigning U.S. national champion, qualified as the top American in the latest NORBA National Mountain Bike Series standings.
