BUCKSPORT – Chris Maguire belted a two-run triple off the top of the left center-field fence with one out in the fifth to provide the winning margin and struck out eight batters to help lead Bucksport to an opening round 5-3 win over Saco at the Senior League All-Star state championship tournament Friday.
Ben Clark singled twice and Lucas Marks hit a two-run single in the third for 1-0 Bucksport. Alex Yates earned a save by recording the last out in the seventh.
Jay Velton hit a double and a single for two RBIs.

At Bucksport, Jake Marcum had eight strikeouts and two walks while throwing a six-hit shutout for Auburn Suburban.
Marcum also hit a two-run single in the first while Kyle Bussiere added two singles and an RBI for Auburn.
Cumberland’s Nathan McCray walked four in the first inning, but only two the rest of the way while striking out seven batters.

At Old Town, Falmouth’s Leigh Wyman pitched a two hitter with 13 strikeouts and aided her own cause with two singles, a double and two RBIs in the victory.
Maddie Inlow added three singles and two RBIs for Falmouth, while Bri DePhilippo, Jayne Bazinet, and Anna Hickey each singled twice.
Bridget Hunnewell and Teagan Donahue both singled for Calais.

At Old Town, Ashley Arnold smacked a double, three singles and drove in four runs to lead Auburn.
Kate Sawyer hit two singles with two RBIs and MacKenzie Roy added a double for the winners. The team also made no errors while Waldoboro had eight.
Desiree Benner hit two singles and drove in two runs for Waldoboro, and Taylor Simmons added a double.
