A Hampden woman was arrested Thursday evening for stealing a three-pack of Venus razors and an air freshener from Wal-Mart in Bangor.

A member of the store’s loss prevention department saw Elizabeth Gratwick, 19, conceal the air freshener after removing it from the package just after 6 p.m.

Gratwick then purchased some items at the sporting goods register, the police report said.

The loss prevention employee saw Gratwick remove the razors from their package and place them in her purse.

The Wal-Mart employee confronted her outside the store and called Bangor police, who arrested the woman.

Bangor police were called to Hannaford supermarket at the Airport Mall on Union Street Friday afternoon when a loss prevention employee saw a Bangor woman concealing some items from the store.

Jennifer Eastman, 25, was caught on camera putting cosmetics in her purse while going through the checkout around 1:30 p.m., the police report said.

Eastman also had hidden under the shopping cart items she didn’t pay for, the report said.

The woman apparently had walked out of the store when the employee told her police would be called, but Officer Randall Parsons later found her at the seafood counter.

The stolen items totaled $34.55 in value, and all were recovered.

Eastman told police that she didn’t purposely pilfer the items.

Parsons arrested her, and Eastman was taken to Penobscot County Jail.

Two Winterport men were summoned Thursday night for sale or use of drug paraphernalia.

A Bangor policeman heard Chris Michaud, 19, squeal the tires of his Jeep Wrangler just after 11 p.m. as he was driving on Main Street in Bangor. The officer also noticed that the driver didn’t have his headlights on, according to a police report.

Michaud was pulled over near the Interstate 395 overpass. As the officer was telling Michaud that the tires on the Jeep were illegal because they lacked treads, he noticed that Michaud’s passenger, Nicholas Marshall, 18, appeared “stoned,” the report said.

The odor of marijuana wafted from the vehicle and a K-9 dog was brought in to sniff out the scene, the report indicated.

Marshall handed over a marijuana pipe with residue in it and a small plastic bag filled with the substance.

As police searched the car, they found in the cup holder between the seats another pipe with residue, which Michaud said was his.

Along with the summonses, Michaud received a warning for the poor condition of his tires.
