AUGUSTA – The Maine Senate on Friday confirmed all six of Gov. John Baldacci’s judicial nominees, who include two new faces on the District Court bench.
Ralph Tucker of Brunswick and Marilyn Stavros of Kennebunkport will be sworn in as District Court judges following Friday’s 34-0 confirmation votes.
Tucker, an attorney specializing in labor law, served on the Maine Workers’ Compensation Commission from 1981 to 1993 and chaired the commission from 1985 to 1993.
Stavros, currently a case management officer in the District Court system, previously served as an assistant attorney general and specialized in child protection cases.
Others winning Senate approval Friday include Justices Jeffrey Hjelm of Dixmont and Carl Bradford of Yarmouth, who were renominated for Superior Court terms. Bradford is to serve as active retired justice.
District Judge Michael Westcott of Damariscotta was confirmed for appointment as active retired judge and Keith Powers of Cape Elizabeth will serve another term as district judge.
Maine judges serve seven-year terms.
