Bangor man indicted in forgery, theft case

BANGOR – A Bangor man was indicted Monday by the Penobscot County grand jury for using other people’s identities to apply for general assistance from the city and for benefits from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.

Marc Delit, 34, was indicted on 11 counts of aggravated forgery and one count of theft by deception. Each forgery count represents a separate application for DHHS benefits, according to the Maine Attorney General’s Office, which is prosecuting the case.

The total amount of benefits that Delit received was not available Monday.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Penobscot County Superior Court on Sept. 1.

The forgery counts are Class B crimes and the theft charge is a Class C crime. If convicted, Delit faces up to 10 years in prison on each forgery count and up to five years in prison on the theft charge. He also could be ordered to pay restitution to the state and Bangor.

In an unrelated case, a Lamoine man was indicted on two counts of perjury for lying about his income when he applied for workers’ compensation benefits.

If convicted, William P. Fennelly, 46, faces up to 10 years in prison. He also could be ordered to pay restitution. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Sept. 1.

Shaun Gordon, 21, Bangor, two counts of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs.

Wasi M. Habibzai, 37, South Portland, negotiating a worthless instrument.

Christopher R. Harding, 39, Bangor, two counts of aggravated forgery, two counts of criminal operating while under the influence of intoxicants, two counts of operating after suspension, criminal speeding, violation of condition of release.

Chelsea N. Herrick, 22, Stockton Springs, eluding an officer, criminal operating while under the influence of intoxicants, leaving the scene of an accident, operating without a license, refusing to submit to arrest, failure to stop for an officer.

Richard E. Hurd Jr., 37, Bradford, failure to appear.

Eric D. Jipson, 30, Bangor, burglary, theft, violation of condition of release.

Ronald Lacasse, 58, Bangor, burglary, theft.
