Become agent of change

Do you want healthy kids? How about competent, trustworthy, confident, kind, caring and compassionate kids? If so it’s time you became an agent of change. Are you aware that alcohol-substance abuse is the No. 1 public health problem in our country?

Don’t think it’s a problem in your community? I guarantee you are wrong.

Are you talking to your children? Do you know where they are, what they’re doing and whom they’re doing it with?

The question is not “Do you think you know?” but rather “Do you really know?” I’d be curious how many of you are on track. I encourage you to talk to your children and other parents to educate yourself.

What motivates, excites, or really gives your child a thrill? What are they passionate about?

For many of our children it’s the abuse of alcohol or drugs? We must change this.

We must talk to our children about good choices. Be realistic – to tell them to “Just Say No” is an empty message that is easy to say at the kitchen table, but incredibly difficult amongst peers. Find out what your child is doing and what you can live with regarding their choices.

We all have a problem. Your child is being affected in some way. I urge you to become a change agent. A little something to think about and commit to.
