CHICAGO – Four Bangor residents, all members of the Union Street Athletics powerlifting team, set world records and won gold medals at last weekend’s World Drug Free Powerlifting Championships.
Louie Morrison broke records in the squat (705 pounds), bench (446) and total (1,736) in the 181-weight division. Andy Miller set a record in the 308-pound weight division with a bench press of 601 pounds. Sam Tyler benched 529 pounds for a record in the 275-pound division and Doug Morong’s bench press of 420 set a record in the 198-pound division. All four won gold medals. Josh Gotlieb added a bronze in the 242-pound weight division.
